The numbers
Robinson averaged 21.1 points, 10.6 rebounds and 3.0 blocks for his career. He won the 1995 MVP and the 1992 Defensive Player of the Year, and won titles in 1999 and 2003.
On April 24, 1994, the last day of the season, he scored 71 points against the Clippers to take the scoring title from Shaquille O'Neal by 0.3 points a game.
On February 17, 1994 he recorded 34 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists and 10 blocks. There are 4 quadruple-doubles in league history and that is one of them.
He served 2 years in the Navy after being drafted and did not play his rookie season until he was 24. San Antonio improved by 35 wins the year he arrived.
The context
He was a 7 foot 1 center who ran the floor like a wing, which the league had no coverage for in 1990. The 1990 Rookie of the Year and the 35-win improvement came from speed as much as size.
